Like many of you I love Shea Butter for its many virtues. It moisturizes skin, reduce scarring (acne, wound, stretch marks), restores elasticity of the skin, soothe irritated skin and diaper rash on babies, and much more (see Shea Butter any benefits here). However, its hard texture makes it tough to apply and spread, this is why it is also recommended to incorporate/mix it with a oil of choice.
Here I am offering you to transform your Shea Butter in to a whipped creamy and smooth consistency. Not only will this whipped lotion have all the amazing benefits of the Shea Butter but it will also hold the benefits of the oil of your choice (see oil option here).
Ingredients:
- 100 g of Shea Butter
- 50 g of Coconut Oil
- 50 g of Oil of your choice (Sweet almond oil, Avocado oil, Caster oil, Jojoba Oil, Oat Oil, ect…)
- 1/2 tbs of Vitamine E Oil (slows down rancidity of the oil and butter)
- 10 drops of Essence Oil of choice (Peppermint, Tea tree, Vanilla, Lavendar, ect…)
Please note that in the making of any cosmetic products, I always use weighting measures. Each substance (oil, butter, ect…) have its on consistency that needs to be weight to provide accuracy. I would highly recommend investing in a small kitchen weighting machine as they are very inexpensive (here are a few option).
Instructions:
- Sanitize every utensil, container and equipment you are about to use, by boiling them and wiping them dry with a clean piece of cloth. This is important to prevent any bacteria from developing.
- In a bowl place the Shea butter and coconut oil with an hand mixer or stand mixer. Mix it until it get in a paste like consistency. About 5 min. The mixer shouldn’t be lumpy rather smooth and lushes.
- Add the oil of choice and mix the products together so that they are all well incorporated. About 3 min
- Add the Vitamin E oil and Essence oil of choice. Mix for an other 3 min.
- Test the whipped lotion on the back of your hand to see if the lotion is smooth and spreads easily. You are aim for a whipped, fluffy consistency.
- Transfer Whipped lotion in to your sanitized container.
Whipped lotion can now be use anywhere on your body.
